There is rumor that this can proc from Fel Armor and possibly Fel Synergy, is anyone crazy enough to spend the badges and find out? Would be a quite impressive trinket for Demo Warlocks if it does.

Update: In an attempt to test it myself, I obtained a Scarab of the Infinite Cycle and equiped it. In over an hour I have had zero procs, and as the items are of similar style, I think it's safe to say the proc will not work for warlocks.

If a warlock has this trinket and would like to test if it procs on Fel Armor ticks, including the overhealing ticks, that would be great.

If you have 40 badges when the PTR goes up for the next patch, try it out and post your findings.
At a 45 second cooldown, this trinket would be amazing for locks if it did work on Fel Armor including 100% overheal ticks.

What I would like to know is whether this can proc off of Drain Life and Siphon Life.
My thinking is that Drain is a direct heal and Siphon Life is, in a way, a HoT spell.

I believe that is procs from Fel Armor, because that is a direct heal; it shows in my portrait when it hits, how much it heals me for.

I've got a ticket open right now asking this very question, maybe someone will try it soon.

So from reading the above statements i assume it works at least on fel armor ticks, which only ticks when your missing health. But will it proc off of Siphon Life ticks? I think someone said it wont but i would like a confirmation.

A better question is if it procs off of HoTs that people cast on me. Someone said it does and if thats the case then im sold. As a warlock i constantly life tap and to have it proc from recieved heals would be amazing.

UPDATE: I can confirm that the trinket does not proc from any kind of Druid HoTs. Haven't checked other class HoTs but i would assume. It does NOT proc off of Siphon Life either, only Fel Armor

From my observation as resto shaman it has procced off ghost wolf(already mentionned above) and proc of any HoT or direct heal resto sham has.

considering that u have 3(4) heal with chain heal and each has a chance to proc(25%) a hot which will also have a chance to proc this trinket the buff come up about every 30 sec in a raid situation.

Personaly even if the haste cannot be controlled its a good boost since u have it up very often in a boss fight compared to any trinket with lets say 2-3 min CD

I've also seen this trinket proc out of nowhere as i was walking. I am thinknig that it may proc off normal Health regeneration.
I forgot to take SS but there was 0 record of any heal or any spell(of any action i should say) and it procced. Strange trinket indeed lol but im far from regretting buying it.

honestly with the amount of haste bliz is putting on epic healing leather its beginning to @#$% me off more and more. we only have 2(3 if you count tranquility, and no healing touch doesnt count because nourish is better to spam, HT should only be used in combination with NS) spells that we ever use that have a cast time.

There's a few varying opinions here in regards to Druids, so I thought I'd take one for the team and buy the thing just to get the truth. I'll just state what I found and let you decide if it's worth the Emblems or not!

It procs on HoT ticks!
It procs on direct heals.
It will proc regardless of who the heal is on.
It does NOT proc on HoT ticks that were 100% overheal, but direct heal overheals can still proc it.
As an exception to the above, the bloom from Lifebloom cannot proc it on an overheal, despite the overheal appearing in the combat log like a direct heal (unlike HoT ticks).
There is a difference between the trigger on this trinket and "on spell hit/cast" trinkets/talents like Valonforth's Remembrance. For example where that trinket will proc on the initial casting of Rejuvenation, the Egg will only proc on the actual ticks.
As expected there is an internal cooldown, the quickest I could get two successive procs was 48sec using Lifebloom.

Update: For the life of me I can't get this to proc on Swiftmend, overheal or otherwise.

I can confirm this procs off of Fel Armor. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's proced off of Lifeblood as well, but it might have been a Fel Armor tick that set it off during that time.

I use both the Sundial and This trink now, it's awesome when they both proc. I'm up to 3k spell power and 850 haste with a 35% chance to crit. I love it!

So far I haven't done a single boss fight where this hasn't proced.

An interesting alternate use for a holy paladin. Now that spell haste and melee haste have been merged, this trinket itself can be used to offset how much faster haste makes you drain mana. Simply auto attack with Seal of Wisdom when this effect pops. You hit faster, and can gain a lot of mana quite quickly. Because your casts are simultaneously sped up, you can compensate for this melee stretch with faster heals.

Just got this as a warlock, it can proc off fel armor as has been said already but it can also proc off health funnel. I have yet to see it proc on fel synergy however.

Tested on PTR 3.0.8 Build 9355.

Procs off of Fel Armor and Fel Synergy. Proced 3 times while fully life tapped down. If these is legit, it's worth the emblems.

The egg proccing off of Warlock Fel Armor ticks is a bug that will most likely be fixed in an upcoming patch. Don't waste your badges unless you find a blue post specifically saying it will remain as is.

Been using this trinket on my lock for a few weeks: its worth the badges if you have the extra 40 to throw around just because of the passive 98 spellpower (If you don't have a better option: https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=39229, https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40432 , https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40373, https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40255). Personally, I use this and https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40682.

Don't expect it to proc too often though if you are in a 25 man raiding guild. Healers have the tendency to top everyone off without even thinking about it, locks more so than anyone else because of all the tapping they do (The tree druids I raid with are always throwing HoTs at me to keep me up while I tap).

I replaced this bad boy with dying curse. Broke 6k shortly afterward. I never saw it proc once during a boss fight, my above comments still apply.

I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't proc on swiftmend because swiftmend is not actually a heal, more of a "dispel" if you think about it. It takes off the spell, and makes that spell heal the target....not you healing the target...I'm thinking that's how the mechanics for it work, anyway...even with the glyph, the mechanics are the same..

i have bought this on my affli warlock and found this, it wil ONLY procc on haunt as far as i have seen. wont work on drain life and siphon life, possibly death coil but since it has 2 min CD i didnt get a procc yet:) .

i could not get it to procc on 100% hp to, but since were life tapping al the time that should not be a big problem.
not the best trinket for warlock, esspecialy non affli:P
but its a nice haste boost once in a while and the 98SP is not bad either.

buy if you have to many badges and a crap trinket (like me)

Confirmed. Tried it out today and it does proc off life tap. Proc chance seems to be around 50%. Maybe Life Tap counts as some weird kind of "negative direct heal" ?

It does not however proc off fel armor ticks anymore. I tapped down to 300 Life after it procced and waited for my whole life to restore. It took about 3 Minutes - not a single proc.

QUESTION OF THE AGES: Does this trinket's proc stack with similar ones?
Answer: Yes.

3 separate occasions in one night I was able to get it to stack with that of Scarab of the Infinite Cycle.

My shaman has 271 haste on his own. Scarab and Egg combined will grant 825. Adding up to 1096.
Note that Scarab, Egg, and Embrace of the Spider (Maexxna drop) have the same buff icon, but different names. Spell Haste, Essence of Life and Embrace of the Spider respectively.

You will see thse corrisponding icons on all 3 of my shots. In the 3rd one, I actually had time to mouse-over and get the tooltip of them.

Occasion 1 (Yes, I sacrificed my 2 locks for this)
Occasion 2 (No sacrifices :()
Occasion 3. This 3rd shot is a bit weird, I combined croppings of 3 screenshots. All 3 have Heroism and Wrath of Air. The middle and bottom both have the trinket procs (Each time with a different one moused over). The top does not have the trinket procs.

So long as the proc spell has a different name, you will get the buffs to work together.
If the gods of WOW love me enough to let Embrace of the Spider drop next week, I'll confirm that for you all as well.

I can't help but find it irritating that this item is only good for healers. The dps version of this trinket drops in 10 man Naxx and I've run it enough to buy this trinket 5 times over and never seen it. The real kicker is that the one from Naxx is also good for healers, so even when it does drop, I may still lose out.

I thought blizzard's intention with loot in WoTLK was to make loot more versatile for all classes, so I don't get why this is healing only. Everything has switched to spellpower, except this and a few others which are healing only.

Note me casting then removing my Fel Armor buff, then Life Tapping for a while and recieving the buff. Last line is me mounting.

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, if so I apologize.

I have yet to see it procc of Fel Armor, and having Life Tap triggering the buff, you're never sure if it's the Life Tap or the Fel Armor tick that actually triggered it. While testing the Life Tap triggers and letting myself regen through Fel Armor, I can confirm it does NOT procc.

If you're having trouble (like me) getting Embrace of the Spider from 10-man Maexxna, this is an decent alternative for warlocks. From my experiences, it procs instantly on Life Taps (around 10% of my overall taps, allowing 45 seconds in between procs). In long boss fights you'll be casting Life Tap anyways, so you can just as easily have this up during boss fights as you could the proc from Embrace of the Spider (which, by the way, is the exact same 10 second buff). It also has the same amount of spell power as the Maexxna trinket.

Additionally, you could cast a Life Tap or 2 before the beginning of a fight to get a preemptive haste buff, allowing you to regain the buff again sooner, since this is running on a 45 second internal cooldown, as are most other similar trinkets.

This does appear to proc from the Priest Discipline talent Penance when used offensively.
It also procs from the Glyph of Power Word: Shield heal. I haven't tested the heal from Glyph of Dispel Magic yet, but I see no reason it would not trigger the effect as well.

For any discipline priests out there, this trinket procs off penance. sounds obvious, I know, but what I mean is it can proc off of penance regardless of whether the spell heals or does damage... this really only comes in handy when farming solo, because why else would you ever use penance as an offensive spell? but it's worth a mention.

As previous comments have mentioned, there is currently a bug in game that causes this to proc off Arcane Missiles, making this currently one of the best-in-slot trinkets.

Why does Blizzard keep making items like this? I can't be the only healer who thinks random haste is basically useless as far as healing goes. I like haste, but half of healing is knowing how to time your heals. For example, for conserving mana (which in the current version of WoW, isn't really needed, but will be once 3.1 comes out), I let the cast go to a certain point, and cancel it if the tank ends up not needing it. Or, for something like Loatheb, where timing a prayer of healing to land right when the anti-healing debuff goes away is important, random haste can make the heal land before the debuff goes away, wasting the heal (though now that I think about it, it wouldn't have procced just before that heal since I wouldn't have been healing the previous 17 seconds).

If this were random haste on any spell cast, I would much prefer to have this on my mage than on my priest. I'd rather have the Sundial of the Exiled on my priest if that one weren't limited to damaging spells. At least with random spell power I can keep the same timing.

This *will* proc from a glyphed Power Word: Shield (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=42408).

As a raiding holy priest, I find this especially useful when expecting spike damage. IE - Shielding the tank, getting the haste proc, and landing a Greater Heal. This has helped signifigantly during fights like Patchwerk.

Maybe some of you can give me a hand with this question. I'm a high lvl Pally healer. I use the Darkmoon: Greatness card (+95 Int.) for my main trinket. I feel the +Int is invaluable as that is our main stat to stack. My second is currently https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=42413 with two +16 Int (Brilliant whatevers) in the sockets. I'm thinking about this for a new trinket, as haste is very important and mine is only 263. But 'random' haste might not be what I need. Any thoughts?

Change coming in patch 3.3:

The Egg of Mortal Essence: This item can no longer be triggered by Life Tap.

*For the druids haste argument, note that a new glyph will be added in 3.3 to allow rejuvenation to tick faster with haste (Glyph of Rapid Rejuvenation). GotEM will also be changed to add haste instead of reducing GCDs. This means that we WILL find haste a lot more important as the 1 sec GCD will be harder to get; AND if you're tank healing/ pvping, fast-ticking rejuvenation (if you glyph for it) + haste will be gold.

After the changes to Resto Druid haste, this became a very good trinket for us. Most trinkets in ICC are for mana, like Sliver of Pure Ice, while it has more Spell Power, the haste is very useful. It allows to cast Regrowth as a quick-heal spell with the same casting time as nourish, but much higher benefit because of the HOT it leaves on the target.

My personal opinion is that this trinket isn't worth the emblems it costs.

I have it on my priest and was wondering why it never seemed to proc. I then discovered that the haste increase meant that heals went off 0.3 seconds faster, which really isn't enough to be useful.

Maybe if the duration was much longer, but not as it is now.
